The Enbridge Famous 5 Speaker Series profiles extraordinarily successful women.

Our speakers talk candidly about their careers, and the passion, vision and determination that drive them. They discuss our place in our society and the ethical responsibilities and consequences of our actions.

In relating their lives, you will hear about challenges as well as triumphs; humorous incidents and stories of loss; humbling moments of reflection and inspiring calls to action.

The Famous 5 Foundation’s Leadership Lunches were launched on Oct. 18, 1996 to bring women together to plan the celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the "Persons" Case on Oct. 18, 1999.  In 2004, Enbridge became our title sponsor. The Famous 5 Foundation is proud to continue to partner with Enbridge to present our 14th Annual Speaker Series featuring five dynamic and engaging women.

Connie DeSousa

Dubbed the Primal Ballerina – for her years of formal dance training juxtaposed with her meat-centric culinary mastery – Connie DeSousa is one of Canada’s Top Chefs having starred as a finalist in season one of Top Chef Canada on the Food Network. She is known for stand-out butchery skills. Yes, she can debone a pig’s head in record time. Far from gratuitous, Connie and her restaurant are true to time honoured culinary techniques, sustainability and walking the “toe-to-tail” talk. In a “back-to-basics style” she expertly prepared authentic, regional food at great value and to high critical acclaim.

As co-chefs and co-owners of CHARCUT Roast House, one of Canada’s best restaurants, and their food truck Alley Burger, Connie DeSousa and John Jackson, are leaders in the culinary community; with house butchered meats, home-made preserves, new menus daily, and a bustling open kitchen, John & Connie are helping put Calgary and Alberta on the global culinary map.
